PRIVACY

Privacy policy

Last updated: 10 October 2026. This page explains what happens to your information when you use BuildPC (buildpc.store), a free PC planning tool.

The short version

You do not need an account. BuildPC shows no ads, uses no affiliate links, and currently runs no analytics or advertising trackers. We do not sell or share your information for marketing.

Information kept in your own browser

Saved builds, prices you enter, your region and currency, and your light/dark theme choice are stored in your browser’s local storage on your device. They are not sent to BuildPC’s server. You can remove them by clearing your browser’s site data for buildpc.store. A share link contains only part IDs and region settings, not your entered prices. A JSON export file contains what you entered and stays wherever you save it.

Cookies

The site uses a cookie consent tool that stores your cookie choice so the banner does not reappear. BuildPC does not set analytics or advertising cookies. Site administrators who log in to WordPress receive login cookies; ordinary visitors do not need them.

Optional AI help (Google Gemini)

The Fill fields for free button works entirely in your browser. Only if you press Interpret with Gemini is the text you typed sent through our server to Google’s Gemini service, which turns it into planner settings. Google’s free tier may use submitted text to improve its products, so please do not include personal or private information. The BuildPC plugin does not save the text you type. To limit how often AI requests can be made, our server briefly turns your IP address into a scrambled code (a keyed hash) that expires after about one minute, and keeps a site-wide daily request count that does not identify anyone.

Hosting

Like most websites, our hosting provider may record standard technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and operation of the server.

Links to other websites

Store links open searches or pages on other websites, and manufacturer links open their product pages. Those sites have their own privacy policies.

Changes

If how BuildPC handles information changes, for example if analytics are added, this page will be updated first and the date above will change.
